Mongolian collection 4/6 – Architecture

The details and overall architecture in the photographs shown here come from various contexts: the capital, towns, villages, Buddhist temples and museums. There are both exterior and interior views. Some images reflect a situation of neglect, sometimes abandonment and, in any case, they often convey a feeling of great simplicity, revealing the relative disinterest in Mongolian culture for sedentary and city life. The Soviet influence and style of town planning are clearly visible in the capital, both in the official buildings and public housing (various examples of the latter are included in Mongolian Collection 5/6). Some views have prompted rather abstract-type pictures.
