No Grandi Navi
The cruise ships that pass through the San Marco Basin and the Giudecca Canal measure thousands of tons are 300 meters long and more, 50 meters wide and 60 meters high. Their transit ruins the lagoon environment and the urban fabric, causing atmospheric and acoustic pollution with a continuing threat of accidents The No Grandi Navi Committee organizes numerous protests. I participated in the protest of 30 September 2018, taking the images that make up this gallery. The protagonists of the images are the flags of the demonstrators and a large ship in their many contrasts thanks to the backlight of the sunset: the ship is a single massive and monochrome block, darkened by the shadows; the flags take on various shapes, are light, colored and made cheerful by the sun.
