Glimpses of South Africa
The gallery shows some natural features of South Africa. At the beginning you can see the meadows of Namaqualand, an arid area of 55,000 sq km which, in spring, between the end of August and September, explodes in a floral riot of 4,000 species. An image portrays African penguins (a species present only here and in Namibia) in Boulders beach in the center of Simon’s town. There are also baobabs , native African plants useful for the resources it provides to local populations and animals. There are also a series of landscapes (desert, sea, green expanses) and, in addition to penguins, other animals (horses, ostrich, pheasant, dog, herons, zebra). Two shots are dedicated to the Robben Island prison (now a museum) where, from 1964 to 1982, Nelson Mandela was held prisoner.
