Venetian churches

Venetian churches are often like small museums with paintings, frescoes and statues by great artists. On this occasion, we only took photos of their exteriors in search of “anonymous” compositions, always trying to include some elements, more or less in relief: the forms and colors offered by marble, plasterwork and bricks. Such forms and colors create images highlighting the value and function of the materials and showing to what extent they have stood the test of time. The surviving original features may alternate and, in some cases, are combined with encroaching decay or restoration work. . Some of these photos have been published in the handbook of the Department of Asian and North African Studies of Venice Ca’ Foscari University (year 2012).
